1. What AskMyGenie is — and isn’t

AskMyGenie imports your bank and credit-card activity, categorizes your expenses onto Schedule C lines based on your profession, helps you organize receipts, and produces deduction summaries and a Schedule C worksheet. It is a bookkeeping and preparation tool.

AskMyGenie is not a certified public accountant, tax preparer, attorney, or financial advisor, and it does not provide individualized tax, legal, or financial advice. Our categorizations and suggestions are informational. For guidance specific to your situation, consult a qualified CPA or tax professional. You are responsible for what you ultimately file.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and using AskMyGenie for your own U.S. self-employed or sole-proprietor business activity. During our invite-only period, access requires a valid invite code.

3. Your account

We sign you in with a one-time link sent to your email, so keep access to your email account secure. You’re responsible for activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly at genie@askmygenie.ai if you suspect unauthorized use.

4. Your data and your responsibilities

• You keep ownership of the statements, receipts, and other data you upload.
• You’re responsible for the accuracy and completeness of what you import, and for reviewing and confirming every categorization before relying on it.
• AI suggestions are a starting point, not a final determination. You make the final call on how each item is treated and on everything you file with the IRS or any tax authority.
• You confirm you have the right to upload the data you provide.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the service for anything unlawful, or to misrepresent your tax situation;
• upload data you don’t have the right to share, or another person’s financial records without authorization;
• attempt to break, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the service or other users’ data;
• resell or commercially exploit the service without our written permission.

6. AI and accuracy

AskMyGenie uses automated and AI-assisted processing, which can be incomplete or wrong. We update our categorization logic as IRS rules change, but we cannot guarantee any particular deduction, refund, tax outcome, or audit result. Always review the output, and keep your own documentation to support your return.

7. Service availability

AskMyGenie is offered on an “as is” and “as available” basis and may still be evolving. We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features, and we aim for but don’t guarantee uninterrupted availability.

8. Intellectual property

We own AskMyGenie — the software, design, and content. You own your data. By using the service, you grant us a limited license to host and process your data solely to provide the service to you, as described in our Privacy Policy.

9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, AskMyGenie disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any tax penalties, interest, lost deductions, or filing outcomes arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim (or, if the service was free to you during that period, US$100).

10. Termination

You can stop using AskMyGenie and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if these Terms are violated or to protect the service and its users.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We’ll revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, give notice in the app or by email. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
